A week of rest, maybe…
Back from the trip to Colorado Springs. The wedding was great, my sister looked overly joyed about everything. The trip up and back were really pretty uneventful; just12hrs up and 11hrs back down.
At the wedding, I saw a lot of people; aunts, sisters, and more. Even my mother, but I did my best to keep my distance (I don’t exactly get along with her. Long history). I also got to meet Travis’s parents as well as some of Christina’s other friends. It was a busy weekend…
I arrived in Colorado Springs on Thursday at 9pm CDT. I met up with Christina at Texas Roadhouse for dinner within the first part of her bachelorette party. Met a few of her friends. Jessica and Olinda made a surprise visit, too. Had dinner, Christine was given some riske gifts. Being the only guy there, and the brother of the bachelorette no less, made things a bit odd for me. ha. Any case, they bugged me to join them for a drink afterwards. I did. We went down to an 8 in 1 bar/club. That was my first time there, not to bad. Had a drink and decided to get myself outta there before things got too “odd.”
On Friday, we did most of the setup with the tables and chairs and the rehearsal to insure everything went smoothly. It was a great. The pasture said he never had so much fun at a wedding rehearsal. You can tell Christina was having fun, too, from her comments. After all that, we went to dinner as Fargo’s Pizza Co. It’s a fancy pants pizza restaurant. Really good pizza and really fancy pants. We all sat, eat, talked. It was a good nice. The next day is where the fun began.
On Saturday we got an early start. We did the decorations in the morning, breakfast, finishing last minute details in the afternoon. II also got to see a few more people I hadn’t seen in several years. An interesting irony, too, it turns out an old highschool friend use to have my Aunt Pam as her 7th grade Spanish teacher. How freaky is that. Anyway, people said hi, everybody sat down and we started the wedding at 2:30pm, ish. I even got to be the DJ. Scary thought, I know. I tell you, right when Travis and Christine were walking out, I was so tempted to put on Queen’s “Another one bites the Dust.” But I was a nice brother and didn’t…
Afterwards, we had the reception and then finished out the night. Standard dances, throwing of the bouquet and auctioning off the garter. Oh, I forgot to mention; Christina won on the smearing of the cake. It was actually quite hilarious to watch. Both of them were going smoothly and then sudden you notice a little harder and harder push from both sides when it finally ended with an icing covered Travis.
The gifts. Wow … the gifts literally covered their entire living room by the time they got everything home.
Anyway, the end’s end and Ben and I called it an early night to have an early morning the next day. We finally left the Springs around 9am CDT and got back into Dallas around 9pm EDT. The weekend’s at an end.
Now, I have a week to prepare for my trip to Costa Rica….
Oh, and pictures. I do have pictures. I started the trip with aprox. 275 available pictures and ended with aprox. 110. I’ll have them posted within the next day or two on Flickr and my personal site.
